Subject: Subject Line -Repetition of Messages From: Jngw Date: July 15, 1998 Concern: Repetition of postings are filling e-mail unnecessarily. Recommend: (1). Please use first sentence/paragraph of message to state purpose of posting as it relates to Subject Line. (2). Please repeat only a few pertinent lines of original posting when public reply benefits all subscribers. Quoting entire message unnecessary and time/byte consuming. (3). Please "chat" with family connections directly via e-mail and not through rootsweb. Your original post will be sufficient in interesting others to contact you for a private discussion on family genealogy. (4). Please "comment" directly to sender of an original post via private e- mail not SCROOTS when in agreement or disagreement of a subject. A one-on-one discussion via e-mail can be far more open and again, private. (5). Please ask for information only when willing to share your own. Comment: An important and informative first contact message from a fellow researcher was overlooked when scanning through the myriad of repetitive "chats" and "comments" and could have been lost forever. Fortunately, the e-mail address caught my eye, not the SUBJECT Line. Valuable volunteer hours are being expended to maintain these websites. Being supportive of these volunteers by adhering to Subscriber Agreements, Instructions, Requests will encourage entreprenauers to invest in quality sites beneficial in the search of knowledge. Becoming a member through monetary contributions is a statement of support rewarded by the receipt of additional information access. Informed and informative subscribers make the best websites! Please, if you wish to make comment on this posting, do so directly via e-mail to [email protected] and not through SCROOTS. Others might not be interested in a discussion regarding this topic and should not have to "delete" again. Thank you. Jon P.
