Subject: Striblings From: Elreeta Weathers Date: February 15, 1999 Thomas STRIBLING, Jr. and his wife Nancy Ann KINCHELOE STRIBLING moved their family from Berryville, Frederick Co., VA, to SC about 1755. Thomas and his son James Clayton STRIBLING participated in the American Revolution via the SC Militia. Thomas and Ann died in the part of Old Pendleton District which would become Anderson County. Clayton died in 1831 in Union District., SC. According to family legend during the American Revolution, Clayton was captured by Tories, scalped, and left for dead. Mary "Molly" "Polly BECKHAM (daughter of John "Jack" BECKHAM and his wife Elizabeth "Libby" HENDERSON STRIBLING) swam across a river with a slave to rescue Clayton. Clayton was carried to the Beckham home where he was nursed back to health before marrying Mary BECKHAM. Would like to share information with other descendants of this Stribling family.
