"Pendleton District and Anderson County, SC Wills, Estates,
inventories, Tax Returns, and Census Records," page 205--referring
to Book K, 1809-1810, p. 167--

"Power of Attorney...THOMAS STRIBLING, of  Pendleton  District,
appoint CLAYTON STRIBLING, of Union District, S. C. my lawful
attorney to collect legacy from estate of  JOHN KINCHELOE, dec'd,
late of Prince William Co., VA., who bequeathed to my wife ANN
STRIBLING, daughter of JOHN, legacy to be kept by my wife's
mother, ELIZABETH KINCHELOE, relic of John, until her death, which
did not take place until after the second marriage to EDWARD EMMS.
 At death of ELIZABETH EMMS, legacy was left in hands of CORNELIUS
KINCHELOE, trustee for my wife, Ann. Dated 27 Aug., 1810.

	Rec. 3 Sept., 1810"

This POA was made by Thomas2 STRIBLING (Thomas1 Stribling), II and
his wife Nancy Ann KINCHELOE, who was a daughter of John KINCHELOE
and Elizabeth CANTERBURY.  Elizabeth CANTERBURY KINCHELOE married
before 1749 Edward EMMS, who was a planter and a justice. 
Elizabeth CANTERBURY (KINCHELOE) EMMS died in 1777-1778 and her
oldest son, Cornelius KINCHELOE, held Nancy Ann's share in trust.

This POA was made by Thomas STRIBLING, II and his wife Nancy Ann
KINCHELOE, who was a daughter of John KINCHELOE and Elizabeth
CANTERBURY.  Elizabeth CANTERBURY KINCHELOE married before 1749
Edward EMMS, who was a planter and a justice.  Elizabeth
CANTERBURY (KINCHELOE) EMMS died in 1777-1778 and her oldest son,
Cornelius KINCHELOE, held Nancy Ann's share in trust for her until
it was claimed in 1810.

The witnesses were Thomas3 STRIBLING, III (Thomas2, Thomas1
Stribling), and his son Cornelius Kincheloe4 STRIBLING (Thomas3,
Thomas2, Thomas1 Stribling), who would later become a Rear Admiral
in the US Navy.  This Cornelius Kincheloe4 STRIBLING (and there
have been several Stribling men who shared the given names
"Cornelius Kincheloe") left home on 18 June, 1812, to walk to
Charleston, SC, to join the Navy.
