As another serious researcher of South Carolina history & genealogy who was
also born in SC & continues to live in SC, I'd like to make a few comments on
the current discussion. Mr. Coker is a hard man to argue with-- his latest
posting is absolutely right in so many ways.

1. We should not rise up in mutiny demanding a vote. We have no vote. We
should simply be grateful to the listowner for providing the service-- however
we choose to use it--however messages we choose to read or delete.

2. Nothing has been taken away from you by the slowing of Mr. Coker's
postings-- no opportunity & no information. It is all right there online at
the SCHS URL which has been frequently posted.

3. It does not make good sense to copy all of the information from one site
onto another when most researchers have the ability to go to the URL & read
the information. That is not the purpose of this list. Otherwise, the name
should just be changed to the SCHS mail list.

4. Whatever inspired Mr. Coker's recent flurry of postings, we should all be
appreciative--not for flooding our mailboxes -- but for enlightening so many
about the materials available online from the SCHS.

5. Mr. Coker has done more than his share.

Therefore, I hope you will all leave the listowner alone, leave Mr. Coker
alone and put your energies & time toward getting out there and finding the
information. AND if you find something real good, do your fellow researchers
a favor by posting it to the list-- or posting the URL to the list with a good
descriptive subject line. Happy hunting and good health to you all.
