There is a St John's Episcopal Chapel in Charleston, SC. I
have many family members buried there and some were moved to
other cemeteries when the church was no longer in use.
Behind the church and along the back wall/fence of the
churchyard there are several stones proped against the wall
that were removed when a basketball court was put in, or
knocked over from storms or vandals. Two of my SHOKES line
are still buried with their stones. There are few stones
left in their original places.
The last time I was there the bldg. was being used for unwed
mothers and youth programs. It is located on Hanover St.
Most of the church records were lost in a fire and are not
kept at St John's Church, (West Ashley), Chas., SC. I found
a couple of relatives in Sunday School Records.

I think half the congregration was related to me! So many of
the marriage/death records list St John's. And many of my
relatives lived on Hanover St and surrounding streets for
many years. The area was known as Hampstead Mall.

If I can be of any help... let me know.

Yes, it is. My relative is John W. Walling who died in
1874. He was my great grandmother's 2nd husband. In the
probate records in Charleston, SC, it is stated that he was
buried at St. Johns Chapel. I do not know if there is a
stone there or not. If you go to:

http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html
and put in Pinopolis under Feature name, then South Carolina
under State, then Berkeley under County, you will see the
various names using Pinopolis.
It is on a peninsula near Moncks Corner.
