Would you look to see if you have any Native American familys with the surname of Stukes in the Clarendon / Williamsburg county area. Willis Stukes (he is listed as mulatto), is found in the 1880 census in Sammy Swamp, Clarendon Cty. His wife and Children are listed as Black. I'm trying to trace his ancestors. The 1870 census show a Friday Stukes in Sammy Swamp who is listed as Black. I'm not sure if they are related however.
