Don't know that I've ever posted to the SC group, who I'm looking for in SC.
Richard Patrick Knight was born ca 1813 in SC. In 1833 he was wagonmaster
of a 38 Freight Wagon Train going between Raleigh, NC and Charleston, SC and
was on a route on the night of 13 Nov 1833, when "The Sky Fell", a meteorite
shower that caused alarm among many folks of that area of the country.

In 1840 he was in Carroll Co., GA. He married his bride and wife for life,
Nancy Martha Little on 31 Mar 1841 in Carroll Co., GA. He is found living
close to other Knight families in Carroll Co., GA as in this list:
1840 Carroll Co., GA Census-partial index
Knight Matthew 713th District M704 Roll 38 7
Knight William 713th District M704 Roll 38 4
Knight Lucindy 713th District M704 Roll 38 1
Knight Green B. 713th District M704 Roll 38 1
Knight Carrington 682nd District M704 Roll 38 1
Knight Benjamin 729th District M704 Roll 38 25
Knight Presley 714th District M704 Roll 38 1
Knight Richard 713th District M704 Roll 38 3

Richard and Nancy Knight had their first two sons, James Patrick Knight b
1842 and Joseph Robert Knight b 1843, before they moved on to AL. Richard
Anderson Knight b May 18, 1847 was born in Alabama. The next two children
born in AL(unsure of county of birth), Sidney F. Knight and Mary Jane Knight
both died young and are buried somewhere in AL. Next to be born was William
Washington Knight b 1853 in AL, the Jasper Walter Knight b 1853, in
Tallasee, Elmore Co., AL. In 1859 the family moved by wagon train to
Washington Co., TX, where they are found on the 1860 Census. Last child to
be born to this family was Sarah Elizabeth Knight b 1862 in TX(Probably
Brazos Co., TX)

During the Civil War they had a plantation on land in Brazos Co., TX in
Millican Bend, bought from James Millican, and with a T. C. Halliday and a
T. J. Scott, as they are shown on Court records, where they were sued by the
James Millican estate for payment on the land in 1868, after the Civil War.
Richard P. Knight, and oldest two sons, all served in the Confederate War
effort. The family is found on the 1870 Census in Brazos Co., TX.

Is anyone researching this Knight family in SC?? I believe either his
father or Grandfather is a Richard Knight. Any help will be appreciated.
God bless.

Carolyn,
just an old Texas Gal.
