BEARDS - Colleton & Charleston Counties, SC

I am trying to find info on "Barney" BEARD. He is listed in
the 1860 and 1870 SC Census below as Barnwell BEARD. My line
continues with "Barney's" son Barnwell Preston BEARD... but
he is not listed on the 1860 SC Census. Most records show a
birthdate c. 1831-35 SC.

BEARD, Barnwell; age 39; farmer; birthplace- SC   (b. 1831)
Anny; age 34; keeping house; SC   (b. 1836)
Rebecca; age 15; house labor; SC   (b. 1855)
Martha; age 14; farm laborer; SC   (b. 1856)
Harriet; age 9; SC   (b. 1861)
(m. KINSMAN)
William; age 7; SC   (b. 1863)
John; age 4; SC   (b. 1866)
(m. Mary ?)
Martin; age 2; SC   (b. 1868)

(Barnwell Jr did not appear on the 1870 SC Census, but was
born the same year)

Barnwell Preston BEARD b. 1870 Barnwell, SC; m. Anna Berwic
ELLIS b. 1879 Chas, SC. Both were buried in Charleston, SC.
