ASBELL, ELIAS	1856-1926 	COLQUITT

Elias Asbell was born in Lowndes County, Georgia August 6, 1856, the son of 
William Asbell and Sarah Ann Garrett Asbell. He married Lucretia Ella 
Carolina Truett January 26, 1886 in Colquitt County, Georgia. She was the 
daughter of Elijah Truett and Elizabeth Jordan (Vol.IV). She was born on 
July 1, 1863 in what now is Lanier County, Georgia. To them were born eight 
children:

2. William Elijah	b. 4/24/1889. m. Lillie May Crosby, 12/23/1909.
3. Sarah Jane	b. 2/18/1892. m. Irvin W. Hiers, 12/22/1912.
4. Noah Jacob	b. 3t2/1894. m. 1) Odessa Castleberry, 7/21/1918. 2) Evie 
Griffis, 8/30/1931.
5. James Franklin	b. 1/13/1897. m. 1) Lula Pilcher, 6/29/1919. 2) Jellie 
Craven, 1/3/1934.
6. Charlie Lafayette	b. 9/11/1900, d.1/??/ 1902.
7. Joseph Nathan	b. 7/2/1904. m. Ruby Ellender Ellerd, 11/25/1939.
8. Mamie Jewell	b.2124/1907. m. Lessie S. Griffis, 12/1932.

Elias leased land to Beckwith and Rogers on January 8, 1891 as recorded in 
Colquitt County land records book A and on May 19, 1894.
Elias died on July 3, 1926 and is buried at Buck Creek Cemetery in Colquitt 
County, Georgia. Lucretia died July 11, 1925 and is also buried at Buck 
Creek Cemetery.
