Subject: Source From: Bouy Peeples Date: September 15, 1998 Hi All, I don't know if any of you are working on families from the town of Aiken but you may want to read the Diary of the Rev. John Hamilton Cornish. He was an Episcopal priet at St. Thaddeus Aiken from 1840's to 1860's and continued to live in Aiken until his death in 1877. His diary has been invaluable to me in getting information on my Jenkins line. His wife was Martha Sarah Jenkins Cornish and thereby the Jenkins connection. His diary mentions many names and families in Aiken. The majority of the collection is at Chapel Hill, North Carolina with some at Duke and some in Baton Rouge, La. It is extensive but if you are near those areas and you are looking for something to do give it a try. I pulled out all the Jenkins, LaRoche, Grimball information as those were my interest areas. Just one more place to look. His diary gives dates, weather names etc. very good source.
