recently downloaded the Brother's Keeper 5 genealogy shareware program,
which was recommended to me by a listoowner, as suitable for my 3 year
old Aptiva II. I find it is very basic and easy to use and would
recommend it for anyone who is new to entering genealogy on computers.

The only drawback, after using it for a few days, it seems very slow.
You cannot use alt/tab to go from one screen to another. It is
necessary to go all of the way out of the screen for one person if you
find something about another person before you can enter it. The
marriage information is entered on a separate screen. The only way you
can get to see the overall picture is to go out of the edit function and
into another part of the program. I find this awkward and annoying, but
as a learning tool it was great. It is similar to entering things on
index cards, but you must use a different card for each bit of
information. You cannot spread out the cards and view more than one at
a time as you are entering information. Also, yI have not been able to
make corrections from the section which is similar to "list view".

It may be that this is the way all such programs work, I just think
there must be an easier way. I would appreciate if anyone who is very
happy with their program would share information.
