Smith, J. H., Captain, of Charleston, South Carolina. Died 5th November
1862, age 39. Buried St. Matthew's Cemetery.


I have undertaken a rather ambitious project of accumulating info. on men
who served in the Civil War from SC.  As anyone knows who has researched
SC records relating to the Civil War, there's a real need in this area.

Does anyone know if Capt. Smith above was killed in battle or in what
unit he served?  There were about a dozen skirmishes on the 5th of
November.
