Subject: Silverbrook Cemetery - Anderson S.C. From: Ggailsmith Date: June 25, 1998 Most of my recent Brock relatives are buried at Silverbrook Cemetery, E. of White Street., S. of Cemetery Road, at the southeastern city limits. According to some information I found in a book about South Carolina - "Samuel Wilkes, belived to be the first Andersonian to die in the War Between the States, lies buried here. Before the city bought the property in 1898, it was a picnic ground..." There is another cemetery in Anderson that I passed by last week when I visited, however I got distracted and did not go back to see it's name. Would anyone know the name of the cemetery. It looked very old and was on the same side of town as the old mill. I am still looking for the gravesite of my great-uncle Willie Carson Brock. He was born in 1892, worked at a sulphur mine. A relative was at his autopsy in Anderson and it was assumed that he was buried in Anderson. Death was believed to be 1920's. Any help on the cemetery name or on Willie Carson Brock would be appreciated. Email me at [email protected]. Thank you.
