Terry,
Re the ship your people arrived on...can you give me the name of ship
or persons? I have a book about approx. 400 people from germany arriving
in Charleston on three different ships in 1764 and 1765. This includes
names of children. They came from England where they were stranded by the
former soldier who took their money, also. The King furnished them with
ships and land grants in the piedmont section of South Carolina after
hearing of their misfortune. He needed the section settled to form a
barrier between the Indians and the people of Charleston (or the coast), so
this worked two fold. They received land in America and he made certain
the settlements happened! These people were originally headed for Nova
Scotia!
If anyone else thinks their ancestors may have been on these ships,
e-mail me privately and I will do lookups.
     Joye

| The best site I have seen on ships arrival and departure is
| http://istg.rootsweb.com
|
| On the left side of the web page that comes up has Vol 1, 2 and 3. Click
| on each one at
| a time and you will get ships listed by dates, Ship's Names, Port of
| Departure, Port of
| Arrival, Captain's Names, and the site is also searchable.
| There are not many early ship's records to Charleston, SC. I have
| searched for a long time to find the one that my ancestor came on in the
| 1760's and have never found it.
