Subject: Searching for MCILVAINES From: Pat Shannon Date: October 21, 1998 I haven't posted for awhile, but I am always in hopes that someone will recognize the names painted on my "brick wall". I am researching my ancestor Burrell B. McElvin (McIlvaine, McElveen, McIlvane or any of the other 100 variants in the spelling of this name) born in South Carolina ca 1800 died Montgomery, Alabama ca 1880. I believe his parents were Burrell McIlvaine and Sarah from Camden County, SC. He married Emily Brunson in 1829 in Sumter County, SC. They migrated to Montgomery County, Ala somewhere around 1850. The children were Joseph, James,Winnefred, Ellen, Frances, Laura, Theresa, Melvin, Emily, and Mary. Does any of this ring a bell? I hope that someone has this family in their data. I would appreciate any assistance that anyone could offer on finding these elusive ancestors.
