I do not remember which site I read about saving old papers but you should 
never laminate anything in order to preserve it.  You never do something that 
cannot be undone if it is of historic value.  Lamination, in my experience, 
cannot be undone. Newspapers do need to be treated but I would not use a 
"homemade" recipe to do it with.  Light Impressions is an excellent source of 
preservation materials.  I have ordered from them many times.
