Subject: Re: SCROOTS-D Digest V99 #252 From: sylvia gant Date: October 11, 1999 Concerning the message "For Our Soldier". I'm at a loss to describe what I feel here. While I did not approve of everything said or done by Jane Fonda, I don't think that a personal attack on her in this Forum is appropriate. In fact, I think it's the first time I've seen this happen in a genealogical forum. I'm a retired history teacher. I agree that it is part of history but how is it connected with this List's primary subject matter? If I don't agree with you that it should be on this list does that make me a supporter of Jane Fonda and unpatriotic? Pehaps, this would be better served on a list dealing with Vietnam or people one considers to be traitors to the United States of America. That, too, is a matter of debate. Under that criteria, Robert E. Lee and Jefferson Davis were traitors. Check your Constitution for the two definitions of what constitutes treason. Yet, at the end of the Civil War, how many leaders of the Confederacy were tried and executed. This was a war that cost, in American lives and suffering, far more than Vietnam.
