and siblings. my gggrdf. name was Joel Wages
born 1800 Fairfield co.SC.So far we have not been able to tie together
who the parents could have been.Joel came to Georgia about 1829-30 His
first born son was born in 1821 and his name was George in SC.Jesse
N.b.1822,SC John James b.1925 Aiken Co. SC?Elizabeth
b.1829 Ga,and the rest of the children were
born in Georgia.Joel Married Sarah Aiken,of SC
She had two brother William b.1801 and john b.1802 ,Sarah b.1804?
Daughter of James and Mary Aiken, granddaughter of James and Elizabeth
Reid Aiken, from Ireland. Sarah had a first cousin named William Aiken
that was gov. of SC 1844-1846.He returned to Charleston when he was not
allowed to take the seat as a member-elect to the 39th Congress
Feb.12,1867.He died at Flat Rock,Henderson Co. NC Sept 1887,burried in
Magnolia cemetery in Charleston,SC. The county of AIken was named in
his honor ,because he was responsible for the building of a railroad
From that area to Charleston to get cotton to market. Any help would be
appreciated.
Have a wonderful Day,
