Their
Kith and Kin" by J. Harris?

Looking for a Oliver Cemetery located in Hope Township, Williamsburg
County,
SC. Have evidence of SABB and WILDER burials there, ca 1934. Wondering:

    1. Where is (was) this cemetery?
    2. Family or Church owned?
    3. What is the OLIVER-SABB-WILDER connection, if any?

Subject: Researching Bozard, Sauls and Surles

Hello,

I am a new member of this list and have been lurking for about a week. I
have just gotten into researching my family history and find this very
fascinating. I am looking for information on my father's family. Dad's
name was Heyward Hoyt BOZARD, son of Boyce Furman BOZARD and Wilma Evelyn
KING. I have accumulated a lot of history on the King family and some on
the Bozard family. I am in particular need of information about the
ancestors of John L. BOZARD (born 22nd of April, 1822 - died 6th of June
1888). John L. served in the Confederate Army and was called "Captain
John
L."
I am also looking for information on my mother's family. My mother was
Jacquelyn ("Jackie") Barbara SURLES, daughter of William Edgar SURLES
(born
24th of April, 1882 - died 1st of February, 1952) and Mary Geneva SAULS
(born 2nd of September, 1900 - died 12th of December, 1992). I do not
know
anything about the parents, etc., of William Edgar SURLES. I believe that
the SAULS family lived somewhere around Smoaks, SC. Mary Geneva's parents
were James C. SAULS (born 31st of January, 1873 - died 19th of July, 1967)
and Carrie WALSH (born 27th of July, 1876 - died 20th of September, 1956).
Carrie WALSH is believed to have been adopted as a child by the Walsh
family which I assume was here in Orangeburg. I have no other name for
her.
Any assistance with the above will greatly be appreciated.
Regards,

Heyward H. ("Skipper") Bozard, Jr.
Orangeburg, SC

You must belong to the S.C. Huguenot Soc. to obtain the "Transactions of
the
Huguenot Society of SC". I do not know if it is possible to buy some of
the
back issues or not. Most large genealogy libraries have the entire
series.
#100 was published in 1995. The address is:
Huguenot Society of SC, 138 Logan Street, Charleston, SC, 29401-1941, I
seem to recall that they were moving to another location, but, if so, I am
sure this would be forwarded. You can ask for an application to join, if
you wish. Felicia

Has anyone heard of this publication, "Gaillard List of Huguenots of
SC"
by
Thomas Gaillard, Esq. of Mobile, AL, finished in 1848? It contains
>material
that has since been destroyed so may be a good resource to acquire.

Does anyone know how much it costs to order a copy of a S.C.will?
Do we order from the South Carolina Archives or from the county where it
was probated?
If you can answer, please post to the list because a lot of people have
asked.
And what does 'loose will' mean?
Thanks for your help.

The Dallas library has Transactions, at least 42 volumes, all indexed. In
London at the Huguenot Society Library I was told that they have been
microfilmed and am under the impression that the LDS have it.

It has been published twice in the Huguenot Journal. I referred to it
in
getting the S.C. Historical Society's Gillinault (sp.?) scholarship for
my
grandson. Felicia Gourdin (one branch of the Gourdins intermarried

To Whom It May Concern: Re:Digest V99 #103

"...may be freely used to further one's knowledge and understanding of
family origins..." To give the information to your local Genealogical
Society could ultimately be the same thing as being "published or
distributed..." As a person devoted to the genealogy of family origins,
you
can have anything (information) I have. You do not have to soothe my ego
to
benefit from my research. Or have I misunderstood - Please correct me ?

Best wishes.
