I am just getting into SC research and am seeing the term 'Memorials'
(see pasted item below) frequently. Is this just another term for a
deed? If not, please explain in detail to this northerner!

        Records of land changing hands in SC from the 1670's up till
1719.  Lots
of records are extremely detailed, with many previous transfers of
property
listed in a single memorial.
