HI Anne,My Dennis line follows a similar migration along The Great Wagon
Road. They came to Al and settled in what was then Autauga Co. ,now
Chilton Co. ab 1840.Coosa Co. was Indian territory at that time, many
families moved to Coosa Co. after it was availible bewteen 1850 amd 1860
I think.I'm at least a year behind in filing and entering info on my db
but my gggrandmother was Lucinda Monk I've encluded some of her
descendants.I've not been tring to trace that line yet but I was at the
library a hour ago and saw a reference to REV. Silas Monk being a
partner in a foundary started shortly after the Rev. in the SC area.
Most of research is on SC right now,I will be watching for Monk.Despite
a lot of research I have very little info on the family in GA but I know
there were Dennis's (who defintely came to Autauga County,AL)and some
other possible families in the Sumter/Claredon Co,SC area. Will be glad
to share what I have and help in any way.By the way when I was growing
up there were still Monks in Chilton Co.,Al.I have a news paper clipping
of a 1956 Monk reunion that I've scanned I can send.David Dennis
