I copied a Social security number from a Death certificate on a deceased
individual. One parent's name was not known on the DC. and he was not listed
on the SSDI. I sent for a copy of his original Social Security application
using the number from the Death Certificate. I received the copy and both
parents names were listed.

My father died 6 years ago. He didn't get a death benefit, so you may be
correct. I think these people may just fall through the cracks and are not
posted. The social security office told me they would add him if I sent a
 copy of his death certificate.
