All subscribers are encouraged to post a monthly message saying "Hello" and
announcing what SOUTH CAROLINA topics they are primarily researching.  It is
recommended that you post one message per research or discussion topic.  

All subscribers are encouraged to announce what type of free information and/or
lookup services you might offer to share.  Lookup requests and responses are
appropriate topics for the forum.  We want this kind of information in the
SCRoots archives.

Send all messages for the forum to [email protected]. They will then be
sent on to everyone in both mail and digest versions of the forum.  Send all
subscription commands to the "-request" addresses shown above.

If you want replies to your messages to be addressed directly to you by default,
rather than to the forum, then make sure your email address is entered in the
"Reply-To" setup in your email program. Note that most email programs have a
separate setting for your actual email address and your "Reply-To" address.

The fundamental rule of the forum is this.  Don't be annoying or be easily
annoyed.  

Posting of virus warnings, chain letters, political announcements, commercial
ads, personal messages, test messages, profanity, or off-topic messages is not
acceptable and will be grounds for expulsion from the forum without notice. We
will ignore an infrequent off-topic message if it is not offensive and of the
type that may stir controversy or stimulate off-topic discussions.  Flagrant or
repetitive off-topic messages are not acceptable.

DON'T QUOTE EXCESSIVELY. Most email programs automatically quote the whole
message when you reply. This is wasteful and can be confusing. Edit your quotes
and include only the relevant portions. Delete extraneous material.

KEEP YOUR POSTS ON TOPIC. The forum is for messages and discussion about SOUTH
CAROLINA genealogy and research. This is not a general chat room. If you want to
just chat, you must do it somewhere else.

DO NOT SEND ATTACHMENTS TO THE FORUM. Make certain HTML format is OFF in your
email program and that "cards" are not being appended to messages sent to the
forum. Please check your setups.

SUGGESTIONS WELCOMED (EVEN IF WE DON'T AGREE). If you have any suggestions for
clarification or improvement of these policies and guidelines, please send them
to the Forum Manager. Do not post them for public discussion in the forum.
