Subject: SC QUESTION FOR THE EXPERTS From: Diane Smith Date: July 16, 1998 After spending 3 hours last night on the net, I have not been able to find what I am looking for. I am looking for maps, etc of very early SC late 1600's into 1700's of the Parishes, Counties or how SC was divided and how the boundaries changed of the Districts, Counties. And also, maps showing what parts of SC may have become NC and also if any part became GA? I did find reference that SC was known as and part of the "Carolinas" this was before N & S. Then apparantly by abt 1723 the Governors agreed on the boundaries of N & S Carolina. I do have printouts of each County of SC and when they were formed but the earliest was abt 1785. How was it divided before then going backwards? Would like a map or something illustrating the changes. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! I'm finding family names in the SC Land Records (very early 1720's) but not sure where the land could be. SC or NC at a later time.
