Subject: Re: SC Plantation From: Felicia K. Gourdin Date: October 16, 1999 Ginger: The History of Georgetown County, SC, by George C. Rogers Jr. does not list a Rhames, nor a plantation by the name of "Muddy Creek" or "Muddy Bottom". It (supposedly) gives a list of the names of all the plantations in Georgetown Co. However, it does list a Rhem & Kellahan on pg. 467, who ran a "steamer" on the Black River and states (pg. 7) "The Santee and the Pee Dee are navigable as far as the Piedmont, the Black to Kingstree, the Black Mingo (a northern tributary of the Black) to Rhems, the Waccamaw above Conway, and the Sampit for ten miles."
