Subject: SC Ordnance of Secession From: John C Rigdon Date: April 19, 1998 My apologies everyone for the BAD URL... I'm particularly bad about not checking these things. The correct URL for the top page is http://members.aol.com/superstore/sccd.htm Then click on the Ordnance of Secession. The 154 names on the Ordnance are not in the Site Index yet, and they're in no particular order, but you should be able to browse them fairly easily. Although I've had this framed print put out by the SC State Archives for a couple of years now, I only just now realized in transcribing the names yesterday that I have two close relatives on my mother's side who signed. Today I'm finishing up a set of pages on each of the battles of the war and what SC units were involved. These should be posted by late afternoon. The first thing to do in researching a Civil War ancestor is to determine what unit they served in - once you have that you can track their movements through the war and read accounts of particular battles. If you have a name only, but do not know the regiment and / or company, drop me a note and I can do a lookup for you. I'm sure it will be months before most of th 65,000 +/- names are on line.
