Subject: Re: SC need help w/ 1840 SC census From: William Norton Date: March 18, 2001 Glenna, Ruth here. Sorry I didn't get back to you on the other census matter. I have been under the weather lately and slow in getting back. But I have the FTM 1840 census and here is what there was for SC Eaves Union County: Archibald, Nathaniel, and William for 1840 and 1843 St. George Parrish Dorchester County: Elener for 1840 and 1843 Lexington County William J. for 1840 and 1843 Barnwell County: Jackson, Norvell and Silas for 1840 and 1843 Chester County: Major Nathaniel R. for 1840 and 1843 Spartanburg County: Spencer for 1840 and 1843 I just got the 8.0 version and checked the index for Guilford and here is what there was: Guilfed: MD, NC, VA marriage index for 1624-1915 KY, NC, TN, VA, WV marriage index for 1728-1850 Guilford: Vol 41 World Family Tree b. 1800-1803 1830 census for NC and SC 1870 census for NC and SC 1870 United States Census SSN Death Index I looked in the Vol 41 and it is tree number 224. Here is what was there. Guilford was b. 1803 to Mary Carpenter and Andrew Eaves. On Feb of 1833 he married Lavinia Mooney (b. 1810 to Charlotte and John P. Mooney). They had 4 children: 1. John Peter 1834; Rufus Andrew 1836; William Lawson 1846; and James Lafayette 1846. I noticed a George Guilford Eaves listed on the Vol 41 and he turned out to be the son of Jane Baxter and Spencer Jonathan Eaves, the brother to the above Guilford and son to Mary and Andrew Eaves. Spencer J. m. Katherine Almyra Burgin. If you want any more off of that volume just let me know and I will copy to you. Hope this helps and so sorry not to have followed up and helped with your other census question.
