SC Roots friends,
Please send this relply to all! Especially if you know of any web sites where
these maps can be found.

Dianne Smith and all...
The maps I have did not come from the net. They came from the South Carlolina
Historical Society, 100 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC. Telephone (843)
723-3225. Perhaps they can suggest a resource for you.
I copied the SC counties that I need from the "Mills Atlas of 1825". These
maps are especially helpful because they show the homesteads, labelled by
surnames.

After spending 3 hours last night on the net, I have not been able to fin=
d
what I am looking for. I am looking for maps, etc of very early SC late
1600's into 1700's of the Parishes, Counties or how SC was divided and ho=
w
the boundaries changed of the Districts, Counties. And also, maps showi=
ng
what parts of SC may have become NC and also if any part became GA? I di=
d
find reference that SC was known as and part of the "Carolinas" this was
before N & S. Then apparantly by abt 1723 the Governors agreed on the
boundaries of N & S Carolina.
I do have printouts of each County of SC and when they were formed but th=
e
earliest was abt 1785. How was it divided before then going backwards? Wo=
uld
like a map or something illustrating the changes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! I'm finding family names in the =
SC
Land Records (very early 1720's) but not sure where the land could be. SC=
 or
NC at a later time.
Thank you,
Diane Smith
