My ancestor, Sgt. George Washington Bradley was a Sgt. in Co. E, 2nd. SC
Rifles. The 2nd. Rifles fought in Virginia as part of Longstreet's Corps. in
Lee's Army of Northern Virginia. George was wounded during the 7 days Battles
around Richmond in 862. He was wounded again in the Battle of 2nd. Manassas.
In 1863, he was a Sgt. and accompanied Longstreet's Corps. when they were
transferred to Northern Georgia. He was wounded in the Battle of Chickamauga,
but survived and was killed a month later in the Battle of Wauchatchie(sp)
Lookout Mtn. TN. On Page 311 of the South Carolina volume of Confederate
Military History is the following entry: "Captain Bowen was severely wounded
and Sergt. G. W. Bradley, a noble soldier, was killed."

defending the Confederacy, was my Great-grandmother.
