Janet,

Ancestry has the 1790 census images online. I have viewed them many times,
and saved the pages that pertain to my lines. SC is there. They come up in
your search as "1790 United States Federal Census" under the census records.
Click on that, then once you are on the next page that lists each hit, you
click on the link "View Image Online". There they are! They are mixed in
with the other states.

Subject: SC Census Images Online?

Many months ago I joined Ancestry.com. I had written and
even spoken with them by phone, asking when they would have
the SC Census Images online.... Ancestry said around Dec.
and poss. into Jan. Well, that's come and gone. And I'm
disappointed to say the least. I paid for a 3 mo.
subscription (x2) waiting for this time saving info to be
made available. The best I've come up with was a 1790
Census... on a County Website, but I'm looking for the ones
with "guts"... the info I can really use. I am one of those
people who wants proof... copies of the actual census info.
Transcribed info is useful, and thank God for those who do
the work. I would want both sources of info online. Though,
I have found that many people have a difficult time reading
the old script and transcribing can be even worse if one is
not knowledgable and familar with it. A difficult task made
worse by a census taker with poor handwriting.

So... were's the darn online SC CENSUS Images!

I'm fine. Just self absorbed. Want MY info online before
those "other" (less important) states.
