I'd hate for anyone to travel a long distance and be disppointed not to be able to use the Archives. Department of Archives and History has announced it will close the State Archives to the public April 20 - May 4, 1998. During that period, the agency will move the S.C. Archives to its new home at the S.C. History Center at 8301 Parklane Road in Columbia. The archives will reopen to the public at the new facility on May 5. The South Carolina History Center will officially open its doors to the public May 23, 1998 with a day-long celebration and open house. The History Center will be the new home of the S.C. Archives.
