The Savannah River Site is a 300 sq mile area along the Savannah River now
owned by the Federal Government (US Dept of Energy). It is made up of parts
of mostly Barnwell and Aiken counties with a little of Allendale county thrown
in. In the early 1950's when this land was being claimed by the Federal
government, many family and church cemeteries were relocated to new sites.
The towns of Meyers Mill and Dunbarton were disbanded with the town of
Ellenton being relocated to just outside the site boundary and named New
Ellenton.

In 1981, the USC South Carolina Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology,
with funding by DOE, issued a report entitled The Cemeteries of the Savannah
River Site: An Inventory of Relocated and Remnant Cemeteries. This report is
in two volumes and is indexed.

I am willing to do lookups. Please be patient with me as to response time as
I have a couple of cemetery and census projects going right now.
