Subject: Sara Wolf(e) born 1834 From: Lawrence Winebrenner Date: July 10, 1999 If you are on the Orangeburg list I apologize for this repetition. Sarah Wolf(e) was born in South Carolina in 1832. She was my grandmother. That's right--GRANDMOTHER. She married George Troup Embry of Wilkes County Georgia [who served in the War Between the States as a Chaplain with General Colquitt and named my father Walter Colquitt after him]. Two pieces of evidence rather than specific written records convince me that she was from SC. First, my father said that when George Troup Embry and Sara Wolf got married, her father gave her a feather bed as part of her dowrey, but they had to GO BACK TO HER HOME IN SC and pick it up. Second, George Alexander of McDonough GA was the grandson of Sara's sister, Dora Wolf. He said his grandmother was from SC. This is the only evidence except George Alexander's statement that his grandmother came from somewhere "around Orangeburg SC." I've been to Orangeburg and spent two days there searching for some evidence of Sara's parents, but was singularly unsuccessful. If anyone has Sara Wolf information, I would greatly appreciate it.
