Hello South Carolina, I am checking in once more with my hopes of finding the
ancestry of my great, great grandfather DR. SAMUEL EDWIN NORTON MD and DD. We
were told he was born in Winnsboro, SC, but it may not be correct. He was born
in SC and in 1837married JULIA JUSTINA ALSTON in Halifax, NC (I have the
Alstons back to the year one, practically, so I don't need them)....but I DO
need the NORTONS.

  He was a colorful and accomplished man. DR. NORTON got his degree from the
Philadelphia College of Surgeons. They had 14 children of which at least eight
lived to adulthood. My great grandfather was also born in SC: JAMES HUDSON
NORTON CSA b. 1844 d.1895 m. ALLIE LOVE GREENWOOD in Columbus, Ga.
By this time, his parents had moved to MONTGOMERY AL. where the rest of the
children were born. 
  After JULIA died in Montgomery in 1867. DR. NORTON, who had been the pastor
of ST. JOHN'S METHODIST-EPISCOPAL CHURCH IN MONTGOMERY Al. for some time,
moved to Gainesville Fla and married his second wife, a Miss Shelton. 
There he died in 1877.

b. May 1816 in SOUTH CAROLINA.....please help if you can.
