Hello ny Southern Friends,

I have a family that is driving me stright up thee wall. I hope some may
help me. My husbands gr grandfather who we assumed wa born in Gloucester
Mass, was relly born in the Charleston area. We are assuning for the
moment, about 1852. He was Anthony Lally, son of Hugh Lally and bridget
O'hearn, both born in Ireland. For some reason I an assuming they may
have immigrated about 1840-1850 or so. I am unable to find any records.
Anthony was a mariner and appeared in Gloucester Mass census in 1880,
stayed there till his death in 1889. As far as I can determine, he was not
in Mass for the 1870 census. He married a woman from NS, but had lived in
Mass prior with a 1 st husband and at least 1 dau. born in Mass, I do know
the family was catholic. Have serched all census records, to no avail.
Found 1 Lally farmer, William, from Ga and living in Greenville co. I am
fairly cerain, no connection. Found a Dalvest Lally in the Orangeburg
dist. who died of bronchitis, listed in 1860 SC mortaliy book. Are there
films for the mortality books? or only printed info in the book. I checked
the card catalog at the LDS center as well as fiche. So Far Ziillccch
thought of church records, but which one, and vital reecords not kept until
about 1915. I would appreciate any help or advice. Would like to write
the state but boy this gets expensive. In mass you contact the archives by
letter, proving basic out line, they seach and then charge Which that
were true of other place! Appreciate ate any help
