John W. Robertson was born on November 6, 1815 in South Carolina, possibly
in Barnwell County. Census records indicate his parents were also born in
South Carolina, but their names are unknown. He is believed to have moved
to the Florida Territory with his parents, but the place and the year is
unknown. John W. was in Hamilton County by 1837 where he enlisted in
Captain Daniel Bell's Company, Florida Volunteers during the Florida Indian
Wars.

She was born on November 10, 1821, probably in Appling County, Georgia, Her
pension file includes a signed affidavit by her brother Berrian D.
Whitehurst, stating that he was present at the marriage ceremony.
Based on receipts for land purchased, John W. and Sarah Ann left Hamilton
County in the early 1840's and moved into northern Suwannee County
