Subject: Revolutionary War in SC From: Katherine Woerner Date: February 24, 1998 I've got the Willingham/Winningham family with land grants in Amelia Township, SC in 1736, but lose them during the Revolutionary War. I've read some histories of SC during the war (I never knew any history even after college courses or cared about history until I started genealogy!) and can understand how families got lost. Are there sources that list the names of the men who served for SC in the Revolutionary War? I would be interested in any list, but think that Col. Thompson's Rangers and Gen. Francis Marion's lists may have some Willingham/Winningham names on them. Any source that lists names might be helpful to me, especially if they can be accessed via the net since I am unable to travel to SC. I did look at the SC Library address that Coker sent and see the reference to a list for Col. Pickens (some day the acutal list will be on the net!) Yes, I've seen Moss' book on Revolutionary Soldiers in SC, but I believe there were more Willingham/Winningham men than who are listed there. All suggestions for learning more about the people of SC during the Revolutionary War is appreciated.
