Subject: Rev. John R. HYATT and Rev. James W. EL(L)ZEY From: Rwinkfein Date: August 24, 1999 Rev. John R. HYATT (1831-1903) and Rev. James W. EL(L)ZEY (1821-1888) are both buried in what is now called White Church Cemetery, about five miles north of Ravenel, SC, in Charleston County. I'm assuming they were both preachers at the church that used to be at this site, the foundation of which is still visible on the cemetery grounds. My grandmother told me that she had always been told it was an Episcopal church and that it burned down some time before 1920. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look for a history of the church (particularly if I don't have a church name) or for information on these two reverends?
