        This information came from  copies of two memos
prepared by W. C. Ragin of Atlanta, GA dated 25 Sep
1943 and 17 May 1944.

        Rev. JENKINS was born near Britton's Neck 29 Nov
1764.  He died 24 Jun 1847.  He served in the Revolution
under Col. Baxter who commanded a small part of Marion's
Brigade.  He was admitted to the ministry of the Methodist
and began serving in the Cherokee District on 10 Mar 1792.
He later spent some time in Georgia for the Church.  He was
appointed Presiding Elder in 1801.  He married Elizabeth Ann
GWYN 10 Feb 1805 and settled at Sawney's Creek, 11 miles
From Camden.  Two children are listed for this couple.

        Elizabeth  Ann JENKINS was born 7 Dec 1816 and died
2 Jan 1890.  She married William Jefferson CROSSWELL on 6
Nov 1836.  Dr. Joseph JENKINS was born 17 Feb 1818 and died
22 Dec 1862.  He married Mary Eliza MYERS.  I have no other
information on Dr. Joseph JENKINS.
