For those researching colonial period, one might want to check out the
Camden Archives and Museum, about 30 miles NE of Columbia straight down
I-20. They house the Colonial Dames XVII Century and the SC DAR Library and
have the most helpful and knowledgable staff. Particularly Carol McNaughton
who works there Wed-Fri. They are also open the 1st and 3rd Sun. of the
month, but not on Sat. they have helped me a lot, altho I am researching
the Edgefield Co. area. They also have all SC Counties Censuses for every
year.

The Caroliniana Library has many manuscripts and has the work of an early
genealogist named Leonardo Andreas. I have read files on my early lines in
SC in his work. We have access to a lot of what he had to dig thru the hard
way to find his info., but some of it is a collection of letters and papers
sent to him. There was an index of what is available in his files at
www.geocities.com/BourbonStreet/2412/andrea/index.html
an email address on the site was [email protected] I downloaded my copy
of the index on 1/12/2000 so I don't know if it will be there a year later.
