Subject: REQUESTING LOOK UPS From: Jfhawthorn Date: November 12, 1998 I wanted to share a note from someone that I had requested a lookup from: I'm sorry but I didn't find any reference to your names. Also, thanks for putting your query into a nice format. This was my first offer to do lookups in my books, and I've gotten a lot of questions from well meaning folks that have taken up lots of time to answer. I'll know how to ask next time. Thanks, _______ I have volunteered to do lookups in the past and have learned how difficult it is to take information from a narrative format. The format I use is very basic and easy to read, particularly if one is unfamiliar with the linage. I am passing on the above comments, as well as my format because I feel that when you, along with 40-50 other people, are asking a volunteer to do your research, it is only fair that you make it as easy for them as possible. I do not mean to imply that my format is the best, but I plan to use it until I see one that makes it easier on the volunteer. NAMES DATE LOCATION DATE LOCATION HUSBAND DOB LOCATION DOD LOCATION FATHER DOB LOCATION DOD LOCATION MOTHER DOB LOCATION DOD LOCATION MARRIED TO: DATE LOCATION _____________________________ SPOUSE DOB LOCATION DOD LOCATION FATHER DOB LOCATION DOD LOCATION MOTHER DOB LOCATION DOD LOCATION I have the above set up as a template and when making a request I just pull it up and fill out all the info I have and I place a question mark (?) in the space that I am requesting info on. The volunteer has only to type in the info that they find, and then go on to the next request. Please note that this is just a suggestion.
