The Forum is for sharing and discussion of South Carolina genealogy information, study, and research. Historical information and other material helpful for guiding or understanding research is acceptable. Other subjects and uses are off-topic in the SCRoots Email Forum. To learn more about SCRoots, peruse our web pages at http://www.scroots.org/. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=- TO SUBSCRIBE OR TO UNSUBSCRIBE from SCROOTS-L (mail mode) send a message to [email protected] (NOT to [email protected]) that contains in the body of the message either the command subscribe or the command unsubscribe (but not both) and no other text. No subject line is necessary, but if your software requires one, just use subscribe or unsubscribe in the subject line. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=- TO SUBSCRIBE OR TO UNSUBSCRIBE from SCROOTS-D (Digest Mode) send a message to [email protected] (NOT to [email protected]) that contains in the body of the message either the command subscribe or the command unsubscribe (but not both) and no other text. No subject line is necessary, but if your software requires one, just use subscribe or unsubscribe in the subject. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=- AFTER YOU HAVE SUBSCRIBED to the Forum you may send and receive messages with the Forum members. To send messages to the Forum address your messages to [email protected] NOT [email protected] AND NOT [email protected] The address with "-request" is for subscription actions, not for message posting. As long as you remain on the subscriber list, you will receive messages from the Forum. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Sometimes messages are rejected because the sender, or their Internet Service Provider, has slightly changed their email address or the configuration in their email program. If something like that happens, try to temporarily change your address back to what it was, and unsubscribe using the old address. Then, change the address back to the new version and resubscribe. This should make the server recognize you at the new address and stop sending mail to the old address. You can always find out what address you are subscribed under by examining the FULL message header in any email sent to you under the subscribed address. Another possible cause of problems is having HTML mode turned on in your email program or having "signatures" or "cards" attached to your messages. Try turning these features off before sending messages to the Forum servers. For more help, try the following web pages.
