hello list -   i have a copy of the "Travis letter" that he wrote in the
alamo before being overrun by the mexican army.  if anyone is interested
in it, i could probably transcribe it and put it on the list.

just as a note of interest, (i know there were some mavericks in
charleston and elsewhere in south carolina), my children's 3Ggrandfather
was samuel a. maverick who was one of the signers of the texas declaration
of independence from mexico.  the maverick family owned the land that the
alamo sits on; they donated it for the catholic mission.
