Subject: Red Bank Creek of Little Saluda From: ronald williams Date: March 02, 1998 My ancestor, John SMEDLEY, lived on the Red Bank Creek of the Little Saluda River. This area started off in Colleton County, then it was in Edgefield District, and today, it is in Saluda County, SC. Does anyone have any information on the history of this area? I have information on most of the families who lived on the Red Bank Creek. I would love to correspond with anyone else who is interested in this area. Some of the families are: James HART, William BURDITT, Samuel ETHERIDGE, Thomas DELOACH, Henry KING, and Lewis CLARK. I am especially looking for information on HENRY and AVERILLA KING, and LEWIS CLARK. I know that there was a RED BANK BAPTIST CHURCH. Does anyone know where I might find the records of this church? I have also seen a posting about the Edgefield Historical and Genealogical Society. I would love to have an address for this place, and I am sure that others would, too. I also have a BIG QUESTION; if John Smedley died in 1790 before Edgefield District was formed, where would I find any possible records of the settling of his estate. Where would these old Colleton County Records be? Thank you for any help. Thank also Steve Coker for the great job that you do. This is one of the most informative lists that I have ever belonged to.
