    Is anyone researching Randal/Randall or any other possible spelling
in early Edgefield District, South Carolina?  Seeking parents for May
Randal Whitlock.
    According to a Bible record J. W. Whitlock m. 3 March 1821.  All
other references give his name as James Whitlock b.September 15, 1791,
d. Feb. 22, 1852.  Presume his marriage was to Mary _?_ as she is named
as his wife in birth entries for their children.
    On the 1916 death certificate information for their youngest known
son, Benjamin Franklin Whitlock b. 1843 d. 1916, taken at Elliot's
Funeral Home in Augusta, Richmond Co., Georgia, and hence on his death
certificate, the maiden name given for his mother by his widow was Mary
Randal.  On the 1850 and 1860 census her given name is Mary.  This is
the only reference I have found to Randal in regards to her.
    Several years ago when I was in Edgefield, South Carolina, at the
research center on the square, I checked through Randal estate records
for a Mary b.c. 1800-05 d. after 1860 without success.  Any suggestions
for further research.  Anyone researching Randals, any spelling, in
early Edgefield District, South Carolina?  Thanks in advance for your
assistance.
