From the SC Gazette, July 24, 1762:

"Brought to the Work-house.

July 23.  A new negro fellow named QUASH, Coromantee born, has on an old
homespun jacket and breeches, smiling countenance, his country marks
down his temples, breast and belly, and filed teeth, Taken up at Stone
landing, near Monck's Corner."
