Subject: PINCKNEY, LAVINGTON, WHITAKER, FLEMING, DEARS, HUTCHINSON, CATTELL, MARTIN, MCPHERSON, BREMAR, FLEMING From: Elizabeth Russo Date: February 12, 2000 First, a PINCKNEY question: What relation was CHARLES PINCKNEY to HOPSON PINCKNEY and ROGER PINCKNEY? I believe the latter two to be brothers; is CHARLES a brother, too? Which CHARLES PINCKNEY would this be? Who are their parents? HOPSON PINCKNEY and ROGER PINCKNEY each married QUASH girls, who in turn were daughters of ROBERT QUASH and ELIZABETH DUBOIS. Several of the folks below have both Charleston connections as well as other low-country connections. Was this fairly common in this time period? Or was it only the wealthier planters who could afford both town and country living? ----------------------------------- Book L-3, p. 193 23 Mar. 1768 ROGER PINCKNEY, P.M., TO CHARLES PINCKNEY, ESQ., of Charleston, for L1501 currency, 604 a. in Colleton Co.
