Subject: Pepercorn rent From: Deborah Byrd Date: November 22, 1998 I found a deed where my ancestor John Mikel of Marlborough County sold land in 1786. As part of the deal, the person paid a pepercorn rent for one year before paying the remaining amount due. I remember hearing of a pepercorn rent, was there a significance to this?
