Subject: Patriot, the movie From: Joe Jones Date: July 06, 2000 The State newspaper (Columbia, SC), July 6, says that the maps used in the film were reproductions made from maps supplied by the South Caroliniana Library, and the university is listed in the film's credits. For those of you in the SC midlands - the article also says that, because of the interest in the life of Francis Marion created by the movie, the library has compiled an exhibit on the legends that surround Marion, the Swamp Fox. The exhibit includes illustrations, text panels and materials on how Marion has been portrayed in poetry and film. The exhibit, compiled by curator Joe Long, will remain on display through August. The South Caroliniana Library is open 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., weekdays and 9:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m., on Saturdays. Its book section is open until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
