Hello,
Last month marked the 219th anniversary of the Battle of Cowpens. While
visiting, I picked up a brochure that gave a brief history of patriot
minorities that fought in the battle. The ones that can be documented are
the following:

James Anderson or Asher Crockett, a runaway slave from Virginia

Edward Harris was living in Richland District, SC in 1852, son of free Blacks

Dick Pickens, Andrew Pickens' servant

Primes Record or Record Primus, a free man of color. Living in Roane County,
Tennessee in 1846

Others that have documented are:
Julius Cesar
Lemerick Farr
Andrew Ferguson
Fortune Freeman
Gideon Griffen
Morgan Griffen
Drury Harris
Allen Jeffers
Berry Jeffers
Osborne Jeffers
Andrew Peeleg

I also picked up the book "The Patriots at the Cowpens" that I will be glad
to look up names for anyone interested.
